India Africa Hydrocarbons Conference (IAHC) at New Delhi from January 21- January 22, 2016
Following the successful organising of the India Africa Forum Summit (IAFS) in New Delhi in October 2015, in which the high powered delegation from South Sudan led by H.E President Salva Kiir Mayardit also participated, the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG), Govt of India is now organizing the India Africa Hydrocarbons Conference (IAHC) at New Delhi, India on January 21-22, 2016 to hold discussions on enhancing cooperation between the participating African nations and India in the full value chain of energy and allied industries.
The India Africa Hydrocarbons Conference (IAHC) intends to provide a global forum for Petroleum Ministers of Twenty Five African Countries to share their vision and chart out the road map for extended energy cooperation with India in the coming days. Following is the press release in this regard

India keen to intensify its Hydrocarbon cooperation with African nations
On the margins of 3rd India Africa Forum Summit (IAFS) Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Petroleum and Natural Gas met the dignitaries from various African countries on 28-30th October, 2015. He called on Presidents of Nigeria,Ghana, Vice Presidents of Angola, Tanzania, Prime Minister of Mozambique, Ministers of Oil and Gas of South Sudan, Minister of World Affairs of Algeria and Minister of Economic Affairs of Gabon.
Shri Pradhan,accompanied by Secretary and senior officials of MoPNG and CMDs of IOC,OIL, EIL and MD OVL, conveyed to the leadership of the African countries that India is keen to intensify its hydrocarbon cooperation with the African countries on upstream,midstream and downstream areas. He stressed upon the potential to graduate to an energy partnership between India and the African nations.
Shri Pradhan also accompanied Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in his bilateral meetings with Presidents of Nigeria,Sudan,South Sudan,Gabon, Prime Minister of Mozambique and Vice Presidents of Tanzania and Angola. Cooperation in Oil and Gas sector was one of the key areas discussed during these meetings. It was also decided that the 4th India-Africa Hydrocarbon Conference will be held in New Delhi on. 21-22 January 2016 in New Delhi.
It may be noted that India imports about 33 MMT crude oil from Africa which constitutes 18% of our total crude import. Indian Public Sector oil and gas companies have invested about US$ 8 billion in oil and gas assets in Mozambique, Sudan and South Sudan. EIL has been associated with refining sector in several countries as well. During the Urga Sangam on March 27,2015 Hon'ble Prime Minister has asked for increasing India’s focus on Africa for the energy security of India.
